From the lowlands, a distillery that dates back to 1817: Bladnoch. Wonderfully approachable yet complex scotch that a budding novice or aged expert will appreciate. Toasted caramel, floral, peppery Colour : Natural Nose : Fresh cut apples, with toasted caramel and floral notes. Palate : Caramelised toffee apples with peppery spices and fresh cut oak. Finish : Long, with a slight warming dryness.
The other, an exciting unique whisky from a distillery in northern France: Version Française from Distillerie TOS. This single malt from 2018 is finished in ex-bourbon casks, giving it notes of pineapple, yuzu, vanilla, and coconut - a hint of smoke and cereal character.
